Staff Training Week

This past week was staff training! A lot of things happened-too much to post but it was a really good time of fellowship and bonding as a staff. We started each day out with breakfast at 7:30 am and from there we had counselling sessions, personal devotion time, camp preparation, lunch, breaks, more sessions, skit and music practices, dinners and evening session to close the day!
Going through a CPR class....
One of the guys here on staff getting a needed haircut during a break....
Playing Mafia during some free time with the staff kids...
Emma and I practicing the proper procedures for the dining hall during mealtime.
Sequioa was a waitress, along with some of her siblings.....
A very exciting thing that happened was the arrival of Daniel at the beginning of the week! It makes me miss the family a little less.;) We really enjoyed getting to spend time together before camp started! When I first left it seemed that Daniel would have to stay home, but the Lord provided and he was able to fly up and join me for the rest of my trip here!
Another activity we did in preparation for camp was playing Water Boy! This was a lot of fun and is a game that is part of the campers schedule, therefore causing the need for us perspective counselors to be familiar with it!
Emma having fun getting the director!!
The whole group.......we had a really good time even though the water WAS very cold!
Practicing music pieces to share in the evening sessions for the coming weeks of camp....
Ladies ensemble practicing "He's An Unchanging Savior."
More music preparation for a special including two cellos, a guitar, and two ukuleles....
Daniel S. and Jake, two of our guys here for the summer having a duel with rubber knives to keep things exciting.;)
Practicing for the midget skit....;)
Brittany, our nurse for the summer and I studying on our free time....
Daniel having fun with some ventriloquism demonstrations....
Make-your-own-pizza night, with Peter, Missy, Brittany and Melissa (back to the camera)!
An evening session where Mr. Craven showed pictures of the universe and preached on Psalm 8....
We had avisit from Yukon and Savannah Craven in our cabin one night!
Saturday we all hiked Skyline! Last year we had planned to go but had to cancel because of the weather. This year the weather was beautiful and we also saw a mother bear and her cubs on the way there! Daniel made it up  to the top with the rest of the group here!:) It was definitely a character building hike and very hard, but worth it! It has an amazing view!!!

Staff training went really well, and it was a good time of getting to know one another and preparing our hearts and minds for the coming weeks. As we looked into the Word of God to see what it had to say about counselling, we found that it was a whole lot simpler than first meets the eye. God is in control of the campers hearts, we just need to love them presenting them with the truth and wait on God for the rest. Even when it seems like there is no change, keep loving them, trusting God will take care of them.

Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,  fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
