Jr. High Camp Wk. 2

This past week we had Jr. High camp for the summer! I especially enjoyed this week as it was Ryan and I's first experience counseling here!:) Mr. Craven started the week off with the skit "Prince Charming.."
"Steal the bacon"-this game drains it's players of energy but it s a lot of fun.
 A battle of strength.....
We played a lot of games and at each one everyone was required to play....
 Mob soccer....
 Guarding our goals.....
 Chapel time....:)
Our cabin challenged the other girls' cabin to a bake-off. Counselor's were not allowed to help and campers could only help put in one ingredient each-no measuring allowed-only by eye.....
Our cabin's concoction-brownies.....someone put gravy mix rather than flour, soy sauce rather than vanilla but we still won!;)
 Taste-testers judging.....
Ryan and his guys-they really loved him!:)
Letting the girls taste their creation....
Meredith and Monica playing a special-What Wondrous Love Is This?
Mr. and Mrs. Craven singing His Robes For Mine.....
 Raising the flags before breakfast....
 meal-time...
Another cabin challenge we did was crazy hair....
Meeting up with the other cabin to be judged....
 Mrs. Garris was our judge......
We had fun doing the different hairstyles....Hannah's was a real hit!;)
Meaghan-one of our campers working on painting a sled in the craft shop...
A game of newcomb during free time....
This was a fun game and something we spent a lot of time playing.:)
The kids really looked up to Ryan. He especially loves Yukon C.....
Ryan's cabin working through an obstacle course game....
Our team in the same game-different section....
Working together on a whole cabin-legged race....
 Ryan and his guys....
Racing to see which team can get the log rolled across the field first-it was tough!
 Digging for buried treasure....
Breakfast, Friday morning-last day of camp! How time flew!
That afternoon Mr. Craven shared about his recent trip to Cameroon, he and Mrs. Craven took. Before he began, she sang a song written by the cook Janice called-Missionary Call-and I accompanied her.
Pictures. (During the afternoon session is when we counselor's get an hour of free time to read our Bibles, rest, take a shower or whatever.)
Final scoring-a time to count up points of the games and competitions but, first some skits....
 Hannah and Meredith....
 Some pictures of Water-boy.....
 Bucket Tag....
Daniel visits the Dr. Office to get a speck removed from his eye....
Susie had a really loud sneezing problem which Daniel inherited here....
 Daniel's Magician Skit....
 The kids loved Daniel's outfit....
Hannah and I's cabin for the week: Left to right: Heather, Sydney, Meaghan, Natalie, Noel and Katie. We were on the Buccaneers team for the week along with Ryan's cabin. The other team's name was Swashbucklers and they had the other two cabins-one boy and one girl. The Swashbucklers won the most points but our team worked hard and we were very pleased with their attitude. Mr. Craven reminds us often than not everyone can be the winner and it's all about attitude. Good job to our fellow team members the Swashbucklers!;)
This morning we loaded up the bus and said our goodbyes....

Daniel kept busy this week with the stretcher program and worked vey hard. Unfortunately, we didn't  get any pictures of him and his fellow stretcher guys. He enjoyed hanging out with them on his free time and they had fun together! Lord willing, Daniel will be doing the stretcher program this next week and I hope to get some pictures this time.

This coming week we have a Jr. Camp-the third week of summer camp here at Higher Ground. Keep us in your prayers as we prepare for that and are grateful to see several staff members recovering from sickness.

Tomorrow is Daniel's 17th birthday. It's amazing to think it's already July! The Lord has taught us much on this trip so far and we are very glad to have this opportunity.

I chose this verse to close with-may it be true in our lives as Christians:

"But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God."
                         Acts 20:24
